I don’t know about you but since I started running my own business, saying that I’ve been on a constant learning curve is putting it mildly!
Having emerged from a couple of intensive days at a conference entitled Entrepreneurs Odyssey which I thought was very aptly named.
I’ve been to lots of these events and regularly submerging myself in hours of Jim Rohn and more recently Stephen Bartlett’s DOAC I do catch myself intellectually understanding something but not always making the leap to implementation – especially not with *consistency*.
I guess we can all be guilty of that at times.
The one game changer for me is consistently implementing my 90 minutes.
My business mentors are both very evangelical about carving out 90 minutes per day to work on the business instead of in it. In essence tasks that will get and keep more customers.
I don’t fail to see the irony considering that the purpose of our service enables e-commerce business owners to do exactly that; focus on sales and marketing so they stop working in the business and focus on growing it.
What’s that expression “The cobbler is the worst shod”?
Well not anymore, no siree! 😉
I realise Jim’s quote in the title line of this email is aimed more at employees as opposed to business owners *but* aren’t we all guilty at times of being glorified employees when we roll our sleeves up and muck in.
Sometimes it can be incredibly useful. Most of the time, not so much.
Jim Rohn has 6 rules for enjoying a good life and his first is productivity:
“If you don’t produce you won’t be happy. The game of life is not rest. Yes, we must rest, but only long enough to gather strength to get back to productivity”.
As far as I’m concerned, the trick is always watching yourself to make sure it is the RIGHT kind of productivity. Working smarter, not harder and all that jazz.
Here’s to a good life of productivity on the *RIGHT* stuff.
