- E-commerce accounted for a 16.5 percent share of total business turnover in the United Kingdom in 2017.
- By 2021, roughly 93 percent of UK internet users are expected to do online shopping the highest online shopping penetration rate in Europe.
This is having a knock-on effect globally as, just this week, I received enquiries from the USA, Canada, The Middle East and even other European countries who want a fulfilment base in the UK.
Why? Because the UK is at the forefront of E-commerce advancement and overseas ecommerce business owners recognise the huge potential the UK has to offer.
Although the USA, of course, has a very developed market; here in the UK, our E-commerce industry is advancing like no other.
This is due to a number of factors; one of which is a high population density for the geographical space the UK occupies; thus making logistics more focused.
Lately, there have of course been more sombre reasons for the advancement, although these developments in this industry were occurring significantly anyway before the lockdown was announced.
